Line Simulator

February 11th, 2010

Remember way back in the day when point-and-click adventures were enough for people? We didn’t need revolutionary technology or 300 employees for one game. All it took was one guy in a basement! That’s all beside the point, really.

What I’m getting at it my new game that I’m releasing either this Saturday or next Saturday, depending on which works best for me. I have volunteer work to do in the morning and work in the afternoon. If I get the 15 minutes I need in between, it’ll be this Saturday.

The premise of this game is simple. Just image yourself standing in line for the Playstation 4, (I only used the PS4 because that’s the only future console we can know the name of,) but you’re 7th in line. What are you going to do? That’s right! Kill of everyone else in line so you can be first!

Point and click your way to the front of the line, as easy as that. I’m really excited about this game. Even those who tested the originial for me will get some new things from this game. Help me celebrate its release this Saturday!

Techonology vs. Star Wars

January 1st, 2010

Uh-oh. Nicholas got bored again…

Believe it or not, I have a friend who had never seen the original Star Wars trilogy. So this Christmas I bought all three of them for him and we watched them last Wednesday night. It reminded me how awesome the original movies really where, and why movies should be shot on location with minimal special effects.

But it also reminded me how amazing the special effects where for back then. I couldn’t help but feel like all you could do back then was make word documents on the Apple II. This made me very curious, so I did a little research and made a little list of some of the greatest technological advancements (in my opinion) from 1970 to 1990.

So to put things in perspective, I compiled this:

(The whole thing about the 800 number isn’t great, but I found it interesting.)

I’m sure this kind of thing has been made before, but I’m too lazy to find one I found interesting, so I made my own.

Life of a Penguin

December 10th, 2009

Well, I’m back on the animation highway… Boy, that was lame. Let me start over.

So, I spent all yesterday animating this cartoon. It’s about a penguin who wants to be a pirate. Spoiler! There is a happy ending. I’m very proud of it, and I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. You can watch it here or you can watch it on YouTube!

Also, if you live in Iowa, I hope you’re enjoying this snow as much as I am.

I Heart Zombie

November 5th, 2009

Been thinking of putting a full fledged story on here. One that I wrote just a while back. Submitted it to my school’s literary magazine but was rejected because it mentions emo kids which some may find offensive. (I say is one living that life style, they don’t care if they are made fun of. Plus, as some of you know, I have no problem with emos…)

But I’m feeling a story coming on. Have fun:

Now it’s not so crazy, is it? Is it so bad that I’ve fallen victim to this dangerous love? There’s been worse cases. Stupid Lenore’s parents thought it was a good idea to have a kid.

Okay that was out of line. But maybe if she would let me love who I do, I wouldn’t be so hostile!

It’s not their fault an infection caused most of their brains to shut down, and the only thing they have left is the will to stay alive which usually gives them a bad image.

The next day, I broke a big rule. I left the city to go to an abandon library 1/3 of a mile out of the northern safety wall. I needed something to read and the school reading was not cutting it. I couldn’t get my mind off my new found love.

So I grabbed a book about theology of the living dead. It was a pre-war book, and some of the pages were really messed up. Turns out the idea of the living dead started out in a continent called Africa (which I found out the next day at school, is the old New France Republic.) They came from a religion of sorcery called Voodoo were a “witchdoctor” would resurrect a “zombi” (a person who was once dead, which they have brought back) to do their bidding.

Over time, cultures changed the zombi into almost what they are today. Eventually they became know as “Zombies” who fed on flesh, blood, and specifically brains. Nearly half a century ago, the pop culture turned them into these horrible creatures, not completely indifferent from a city rat.

But the original concept is the one I believe in. Except the zombie (or zombi) is the one that resurrected my heart from the dead. It is now in his control, and I to do as he pleases.

T-Shirts!

October 12th, 2009

Been thinking about doing this for a long time. Making some clothes. I have a bunch of designs drawn up and not ’till today did I finally get one finished on the computer. Above is the design. I sent out an email to get a quote, so we’ll see how soon it is ’till I get them to give to all of you. STAY TUNED!

I can’t wait to wear my own clothes…

New Game!

October 11th, 2009

kitYou may notice that in my last post I mentioned a new cartoon about a cat. Well, I changed my mind and now I’m making a game with the same idea. To the right here is a screen shot. Not much to show except for this 8-bit kitty being held up by a single balloon. This is all I have at this point… Finally got what I needed working, the hard part is out of the way. Now on to making enemies and obstacles… But that can wait till the morning.

Got a chance to play the new DJ Hero that’s coming out. It’s a completely stupid idea, I know. But the more I thought about it the better it got. It’s filling in a completely missing demographic of gamers, and its just simple fun. I played it on medium and its pretty dang hard. Unlike medium in Guitar Hero, there’s so much to do and handle.

The most appealing thing about DJ Hero is that you don’t even have to like the music. What they did was take two completely different songs like Gorillaz’s “Feel Good Inc.” and Marvin Gaye’s “Heard it Through the Grapevine” and mix them in a very awesome sounding way. As white as I am, and as against rap as I am, I had a fun time playing this game and that’s all it’s meant to provide.

More so excited about Brutal Legend……….

Good Morning! Again!

October 9th, 2009

The video is on YouTube now. Go there, vote for it with 5 stars. Tell your friends. Thank you, my loves!

Not much else to say that’s going on. Gonna start working on another cartoon really soon. It’s about a cat…

Hello, and Goodmorning!

October 4th, 2009

Remember when I used to use this site all the time? Well, It’s time for me to use it again… Hope you enjoy the new layout. Personally, I love it. To hit things off, I’ll be serving up a new cartoon very shortly. It’s about 10 seconds long. It’ll be awesome.

I went and saw Zombieland last night. If you don’t know, I’m in love with zombies. I plan on writing a book about zombies, and currently I’m working on a play about zombies. I’ve even figured out the biological workings of zombies. Some might say I was very excited for this film, right?

Wrong…

The trailer on the surface looked good. It was a funny looking movie about zombies. But the more I thought about it and saw it, the stupider it got. My teacher put it in the best words: It looked like a movie that was written by a committee of people to make a quick buck. Ever since the release of Twilight, vampires and zombies have been all the rage, to the point that walking through Barnes and Nobles, I saw “Pride and Prejudice… and Zombies.” Ridiculous.

That’s what this movie looked like to me. So I agreed to only go see it if I didn’t have to pay. The arrangements were made, and I went and saw it.

There are things about the movie that actually worked really well. It was funny, and it had a nice twist on zombie films. The humor is literally kept me watching. Unfortunately, that’s because there wasn’t much else. All the characters were very predictable, laid out from the very beginning of the film. The story and character development was too.

They had the main character narrate the film, which for some moments it was nice to have. In other moments, it felt like a cop-out, and the writer couldn’t think of a good way to write something into the film so he had the main character say it in a voice over.

Overall it was an okay movie, and I can see why some people would really enjoy it. This movie was nothing more than decent, but a nice movie to go see if you want a basic movie.
